Why Attend LegCon?

Each spring, APRO members from across the country head to Washington, D.C., to share the rent-to-own story with federal lawmakers during the APRO Legislative Conference. This three-day experience brings together RTO professionals to meet face-to-face with U.S. senators, representatives, and legislative staff, creating space for meaningful conversations and long-term relationship building.

APRO’s Legislative Conference is the premier opportunity for rent-to-own professionals to build and strengthen those relationships. While the policy landscape evolves from year to year, one constant remains – strong, informed connections are essential to ensuring our industry is understood and represented.

LegCon gives attendees a chance to share their story, highlight the value of the rent-to-own model, and engage in thoughtful conversations that build awareness and trust on Capitol Hill. Through face-to-face meetings, participants form lasting connections and help ensure the rent-to-own industry is understood by the people shaping policy.

Whether you’re an experienced advocate or new to this kind of outreach, LegCon is designed to support you every step of the way. APRO provides tools, training, and team-based guidance so attendees can communicate clearly and confidently about the impact of rent-to-own on businesses, employees, customers, and communities.

All APRO members are encouraged to participate – from store-level employees and owners to vendors and industry partners. Your perspective matters, and your presence on Capitol Hill helps strengthen the industry’s voice through connection, visibility, and shared experience.
