RTO World Session Descriptions

5 Ways Millennials Can Help Your Business

Chris Kale Jr., Happy’s Home Center
Terah Vail, FAN Leasing

Millennials often get some bad press among older generations. Is there really a “millennial issue” in the workplace? How do you handle this question? The truth is, millennials are quickly becoming the largest home buying generation in America, and the bulk of the workforce. Engage this generation and reap the benefits! We will share our thoughts on how you can do this.

Building a Successful Training Program

Matthew Warren, RNR Tire Express

A proper training program has three principles: focus, fit, and its format. This course describes how to design and implement a training program that centers on the diverse learner. It is also aimed at ensuring that employers know their target audience, use innovative training methods, and follow up with proper accountability. This course also centers on understanding your business’s core values and how to communicate them to the employee. Utilizing effective training, employers can increase productivity, encourage their employees, and grow future leaders within their company.

Growth: Accessing the Capital Markets to Fuel Your Ambition

Shirin Kanji, Impact RTO

They will share how owners of every size can find the funding they need to help grow their business. We will cover how to access traditional bank financing, private equity, and high net worth investors.

2018 RTO Legal Update

Ed Winn, APRO General Counsel

Rental dealers remain more focused on the day-to-day operations and the competition from several directions than on the legal environment of the RTO industry. However, the RTO industry remains legally challenged on many fronts. Mr. Winn will include a current RTO legal update focusing on recent “hot” developments within the industry as well a discussion of state and federal roundup of issues and strategies for helping to defend against those attacking the RTO model. Among other topics, Winn will discuss amendments to RTO statutes here and there, RTO in the U.K., RTO kiosks, RTO on the Internet, RTO products, taxes and RTO, compliance issues with RTO statutes—agreements, advertising, and price tags, reserve accounts, arbitration, mattress recycling, bed bugs, TCPA compliance, rental thieves, the ADA and RTO websites, and other topics that are or should be on the minds of rental dealers across the country.

The Future of Social Media in Retail

Jack Monson, Social Joey

This session covers the latest updates in a session designed to help owners navigate these changes and better understand social media as a business necessity. Giving Employees Purpose, Engagement, and Significance

Jim Corter, Corter Consulting

There are three effective patterns of most every successful culture that drives high performance: 1) Establish and communicate purpose, 2) Make it safe for employees to engage in dialogue and share ideas, 3) Catch employees doing things right and coach improvement. Reinventing Rent-to-Own

Mike Tissot, Countryside Rentals

If we want to build this business for our customers or our kids or our customers’ kids we will have to do it differently.  We will have to tear it apart and start over in many places. We must be willing to not just do it that way because we have always done it that way. It will not work. In this session, Tissot will expound on practical ways to re-invent the three things that make your business prosper or falter. People. Products. Processes. It all starts with people, but we have to have the products our customers want and the right mechanisms to make that all happen. Some of the ideas you won’t agree with, but this session will make you think.
