Welcome to LEAP, an exciting leadership development program brought to you by APRO and TRIB Group. LEAP is designed to cultivate leadership skills within the RTO industry.
Each month, we’ll explore a new leadership topic through live Zoom sessions or in-person at Meeting of the Minds and RTO World. This program is open to both current and aspiring leaders within your company. While we encourage ongoing participation, each session is designed to stand alone, allowing you to join at any time without missing a step in your development. Plus, all sessions will be recorded and available for download, so your team can learn at their convenience.
Participants will have the opportunity to earn class credits by attending or watching the training sessions and completing a brief survey. Accumulating credits will lead to various certification levels, with potential rewards to be announced.
Topic: Developing People on Purpose
Every store has someone with potential — and too often, that potential gets developed by accident instead of on purpose. The difference between a manager who runs shifts and a leader who builds a bench comes down to two skills: coaching and mentoring. They are not the same thing, and knowing which one the moment calls for changes everything.
This session is for store managers, district leaders, and anyone in RTO responsible for growing people. Participants will learn three practical ways to coach for immediate performance, three ways to mentor for long-term career growth, and how to know which hat to wear — then build both into the daily rhythm of the store. You will leave with conversation frameworks you can use in your very next one-on-one.

Pete Shau is the host and creator of The RTO Show Podcast, the rent-to-own industry’s first podcast dedicated to RTO professionals. With more than 20 years of experience spanning store operations, multi-unit management, team development, revenue growth, and customer retention, Pete has held leadership roles with Rent-A-Center, Rent King, Buddy’s Home Furnishings, and RNR Tire Express. Throughout his career, he has managed single-store and multi-location operations, built high-performing teams, and helped drive growth across competitive markets.
