The devastation caused by recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida and surrounding areas is record-breaking—more costly than Hurricane Katrina in 2005 or Hurricane Sandy in 2012. While scores of disaster relief organizations worldwide are coming to the aid of those in need this summer, unfortunately such help focuses on specific rescue and rebuilding projects—and frankly, it’s not enough. That is why APRO’s RTO Employee Disaster Relief Fund exists specifically to help APRO-member employees in the rent-to-own industry who have been affected by the hurricanes. Since Hurricanes Harvey and Irma made landfall, APRO has been urging fellow rent-to-own professionals to open their hearts and pocketbooks for the cause. So far, APRO has dispersed more than $52,000 to rent-to-own employees in need while the application submissions remain constant. In the past, APRO-member contributions have had a huge impact on the success of programs such as APRO’s disaster relief fund, and such support is needed now more than ever.
