The Littig House Community Center Inc. is a nonprofit agency established in 1951 to enhance the quality of life for youth and their families in Port Washington, NY. The primary mission is to ensure that school-aged youth achieve their full potential.
By addressing the needs of youth and their families where they reside and providing supportive services in a non-competitive, non-threatening environment, families are given the opportunity to overcome barriers that may impede progress towards success. Supported by a team of volunteers, parents, educators, and staff, Littig House offers an array of programs including, after-school tutoring, summer recreation and education program, holiday/recess program, arts and cultural enrichment and health/civic education.
“I’m a long-time admirer and a supporter of both MPowering Kids and Littig House and their missions to improve the lives of children in our community,” said Senator Craig M. Johnson (D-Port Washington.) “I thank Random Acts of Caring for their generosity and their assistance in helping MPowering Kids and Littig House during this time of economic uncertainty.”
“We are so grateful to Rent-A-Center for their generosity,” said Susan Marshall, MPowering Kids Founder. “It is the support of local partners like Rent-A-Center and Senator Johnson that enables us to increase the resources and opportunities for the students that participate in MPowering Kids and make their dreams of being the first in their family to attend college a reality.”
“In this declining economy and devastating budget cuts to human services this year, Littig House community center would not survive without a reduction of services to our youth and families, “ said Lynette Batts, Executive Director for the Littig House. “The donation from Rent-A-Center’s “Random Acts of Caring program” and the continuous support of Senator Craig Johnson, Littig House will be able to continue programs that help strengthen youth build stronger families and shape the leaders of tomorrow without a gap in services. The board and families of Littig House Community Center truly thanks you.”
“Rent-A-Center’s community outreach philosophy and its business model share a common thread, both strive to make the lives of everyday Americans more manageable,” said Xavier Dominicis, vice president, public affairs, Rent-A-Center.
In New York, Rent-A-Center operates 178 stores including nine in the Long Island area. The company also operates a national product service center in Liverpool, where a team of specially trained technicians services merchandise on rent.
