Vendors make ColorTyme Buying Show a success

ColorTyme Franchisee Richard Pannell with ColorTyme Manager Bill Kelly at the ColorTyme Buying Show Monday. ColorTyme's National Convention wraps up today in Frisco, Texas.

After a morning of corporate presentations, speakers and store manager awards, the first day of the ColorTyme National Convention concluded by bringing together vendors and franchisees for a Buying Show.  The event showcased new technology, the latest offerings in furniture and popular appliances for the rent-to-own market.

Products and services were showcased from 30 vendors. Among these were appreciated sponsorship vendors including:  Albany Furniture, Whirlpool, Serta International, ArchBrook Laguna, LG Electronics, Welton USA, Lane Furniture, Mitsubishi and Ashley Furniture. Many vendors offered special rebates to franchisees who made purchases at the show.

“We offer special pricing and rebates to franchisees as our way to show how much we value our relationship with them,” said Kent Clark, rental specialist for Ashley Furniture. “It’s all about making a connection with the owners. Showing them what we have to offer and getting their feedback is what this show is all about.”

Eight vendors joined the Buying Show for the first time this year including Franklin Furniture, Steve Silver, Lenovo Computers, Purdue Woodworks, SLR International, SA IT Services, Donco Trading Company and Lane Furniture.

“We’re extremely excited to be able to show what we offer and bring better priced goods to the show,” said Phil Devero, a local representative for Lane Furniture. “Meeting face-to-face with the owners and learning about their business doesn’t happen everyday, so it’s an opportunity that we treasure.”

Attendees enjoyed a night of networking, arcade games and bowling at the Main Event Monday and Tuesday's events kick off with an industry legislative update by APRO Legal Counsel Ed Winn III, social networking talk by Jim Deering, operations update by Albert Kohut.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
