Rent-to-own News - Simmons has best single market day ever

January 26, 2011

L-R: Vince Nicholson, Simmons VP market groups, Cindy Ferguson, APRO Marketing Director and Ben Crowder, Simmons director of rental division.

Furniture dealers across Las Vegas Market are reporting an uptick in activity this year and Simmons is no exception.

Ben Crowder, director of Simmons rental division said this LVM is turning into a "bedding market" and dealers are responding well to Simmon's "smart response coil" -- a 62 inch steel coil, which can be varied in gauge for maximum comfort.

"We've had our best single day at Las Vegas Market ever this year," Crowder said. "We've seen close to 400 dealers. They are responding well to our spring design and innovations. One thing we can do that's unique is vary the spring gauge of our mattress springs."

Simmons is a 135-year-old company that introduced technological innovations like the Beautyrest Pocketed Coil spring mattress, the Hide-A-Bed product and HealthSmart bed.

Simmons Bedding Company is the maker of Beautyrest, Beautyrest Black, Natural Care, ComforPedic and Simmons Kids mattresses, among others. Simmons is committed to helping consumers attain a higher quality of sleep and supports this mission by developing superior mattresses and promoting a sound, smart sleep routine.

“Las Vegas Market is the undisputed epicenter for the mattress industry, where virtually every supplier formally introduces their newest bedding designs, products and technologies,” said World Market Center Las Vegas President and Chief Executive Officer of World Market Center Las Vegas Robert Maricich.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
