Rent-to-own News - Sharon Hill ColorTyme announces giveaway winner

December 20, 2010

Sharon Hill Store Manager Angelo Lee (l) awards winner plasma TV winner Daryl Booker.

It was an exciting day for a local rent-to-own store and particularly for one lucky customer. Daryl Booker of Sharon Hill was recently drawn as the winner of a new LG 50-inch plasma TV in the ColorTyme Grand Opening Giveaway.

“Winning the TV was a great feeling, especially now that it’s football season,” said Booker. “I would indeed recommend ColorTyme to my family and friends. I like the store’s customer service and reliability.”

A franchised business featuring name-brand furniture, appliances and electronics, ColorTyme received close to 200 giveaway entries from residents in the area. Angelo Lee, manager of the store, was happy to see the prize go to such a loyal customer.

“We’ve met so many great people since we opened and have come to know them on a more personal level,” Lee said. “It was wonderful to see how excited Daryl was to win because, to us, he is a great friend.”

Along with Harry Pappas III and Scott McHale, co-owners of the ColorTyme, Lee said the team strongly believes in giving back to customers, and they plan to do more giveaways and community events in the future.

“Saying ‘thank you’ is more powerful when it’s presented through action. That’s why we show customers how appreciated they are every day whether it’s through big events or on a smaller scale,” said Lee. “Not a day goes by when we don’t think about how to go the extra mile in service and support both inside the store and around our neighborhood.”

Accompanied by enthusiastic employees, Booker celebrated his win with his wife Shawn and their three daughters at the ColorTyme located at 1102 Chester Pike.

ColorTyme, Inc., founded in 1979, is America’s oldest franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores. ColorTyme franchisees operate 195 rent-to-own stores in 33 states, and the company’s custom-wheels-and-tires franchise brand, RimTyme, operates 25 stores in 12 states. ColorTyme is headquartered in Plano, Texas, and is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of the largest RTO company in the world, Rent-A-Center (NASDAQ: RCII).

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
