Rent-to-own News - Right Now Mgmt takes top spot in ColorTyme Top 10

February 3, 2011

Success is no stranger to Mark and Tracy Childers, ColorTyme multi-unit franchisees and owners of Right Now Mgmt, Inc. For the second time in three years, the couple finished in the number one spot on ColorTyme's highly competitive Top 10 franchise ranking.

The Childers own three stores in Alaska and two in Washington State. This year the company moved up from 5th largest volume company in 2009 to the 4th largest in 2010. Every store won a top award for high performance and contributed to the number one ranking.

"We have the best team on the planet," Childers said. "I'm proud of everyone for working hard, refusing to quit and getting us to the top. Our staff pays close attention to the criteria ColorTyme measures, and they stay focused on climbing the rankings. They are motivated and get excited when the new standings are printed each month. They posted our best fourth quarter ever and deserve to be recognized for taking the top spot with their strong finish."

ColorTyme's Top 10 measures a franchisee's ability to grow high volume stores, increase same store revenues and generate revenues from new stores. In 2010, Right Now Mgmt led ColorTyme in new store revenues, was second in total mature store growth, and ranked among the top 10 in both average store revenue and total mature store revenue growth. This outstanding performance placed them in the number one spot in the ColorTyme Top 10 for 2010.

Tracy Childers accepted the award at the recent ColorTyme National Convention, while Mark was in Wasilla, Alaska to help with the grand re-opening of a relocated store. Mark credits 2010's success to the dedication of his Right Now Mgmt co-workers.

Mark and Tracy and their Right Now Mgmt team have reached several high points since branching out with their own ColorTyme stores in 2005. In 2006, they were named New Franchisee of the Year, and they were ranked number one in the ColorTyme Top 10 in 2008.

In addition to consistent achievements in the top tier of financial performance, Mark Childers demonstrates leadership by serving as Chairman of the ColorTyme Franchise Advisory Council.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be part of the Franchise Advisory Council," said Mark. "My goal is to do everything I can to protect the ColorTyme name and uphold the franchise system I've been a part of continuously since 1985."

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
