Rent-to-own News - Rent-A-Center spells good news for Omaha Tribe of Nebraska

June 28, 2010

With help from the Rent-A-Center Random Act of Caring initiative, the Omaha Tribal Council will be better able to serve the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska.

Rent-A-Center is donating the following items:

    •    Three desktop computers
    •    Sofa and loveseat
    •    Two washers
    •    Two dryers
    •    Seven TV’s

These will be used in their nursing home, Women, Infants and Children facilities and Omaha Senior Citizens Center.

The Omaha tribe is a Native American tribe that currently resides on the Omaha Reservation in northeastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Its total land area is approximately 307 square miles and a population of 5,194 was recorded in the 2000 census. Its largest community is Macy.

“We are grateful to Rent-A-Center for this generous gift,” said Amen Sheridan, chairman of the Omaha Tribal Council. “These things will help us serve our tribe members in many ways.”
DONATION CELEBRATION CEREMONY MONDAY

A donation ceremony is being held Monday, June 28th, at 10:00 am at the Omaha Tribal Council facilities at 100 Main Street in Macy.  Representatives of the Tribe and Rent-A-Center will be present.

“Some outstanding organizations find themselves with multiple needs but limited resources, particularly in these challenging economic times. We help customers in that very same situation every day so we wanted to find a way to contribute to our customers’ communities,” said Xavier Dominicis, vice president of Public Affairs with Rent-A-Center. “Through Random Acts of Caring, we are able to help where help is needed when it’s needed. That’s what we’re all about.”

This is the 54th Random Act of Caring since the program was initiated in 2008.  Beyond Random Acts of Caring, Rent-A-Center supports Feeding America, Boys & Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, and scholarships for deserving students.

Rent-A-Center, Inc., headquartered in Plano, Texas, currently operates approximately 3,000 company-owned stores nationwide and in Canada and Puerto Rico. The stores offer name brand, durable goods such as major consumer electronics, appliances, computers, furniture and accessories under flexible rental-purchase agreements that generally allow the customer to obtain ownership of the merchandise at the conclusion of an agreed upon rental period.  In Nebraska, Rent-A-Center operates 14 rent-to-own stores (www.rentacenter.com).

If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III
