Koens open new Premier in Colorado

Matt and Cindy Koen have recently opened a Premier Rental-Purchase franchise in Pueblo, Colorado with Cindy’s parents Donna and Jim Singleton.

In just the first few months since opening, the Koen's report BOR is already at 400 for the new store, and Matt Koen is encouraged that they have been able to achieve this in the slower summer months. A 10-year RTO veteran, he gained his experience working for Rent-A-Center.

He set both collections and sales records as an account manager and later became I/O manager and won the “Top Gun” award for a record he set of 308 individual sales in a single quarter.

As both assistant manager and later store manager, Koen was instrumental in the exponential growth of three stores as well as in training several other “Top Gun” award winners. His greatest success was at the RAC store he left in December of 2007 to open his Premier franchise. He was responsible for growing an established but struggling store’s BOR from 560 to 930 and their revenue from $72,000/month to $105,000 per month.

Koen praises Premier Rental-Purchase and its president/CEO, Trooper Earle, for the help they have given him and his Top Gun partners as new store owners, which includes extensive training. “Premier’s training is extensive because they want you to succeed. It’s a whole different thing to run stores for others and then do it for you,” he said.

The national office of Premier Rental-Purchase is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. All Premier stores are independently owned and operated. Visit Premier’s website at www.premierrents.net or call (800) 2-Premier and ask for Trooper Earle.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
