Rent-to-own News - MRDA pitches in computer equipment for Joplin non-profits
The Missouri Rental Dealers Association is reaching out to victims of the F-5 tornado that decimated Joplin, Missouri this spring by donating 24 computers to two area non-profits as part of MRDA's "Computers 4 Kidz" program. The Missouri Rental Dealers Association (MRDA) works with the Association of Progressive Rental Organizations (APRO) to provide membership and the general public with the latest information regarding legislative initiatives concerning the rent-to-own industry. They are a 5 time recipient of the APRO "State Association of the Year" award for their outstanding contributions to the industry and communities they represent. More information is available at www.missourirentaldealers.org The Four State Home Schoolers began as an informal group of parents sharing teaching resources and concepts over 20 years ago. To date, over 2000 students have graduated under the program, which now operates from multiple locations in the Joplin area. Fifty students are currently enrolled in the program at the Joplin Family Worship Center branch, under the oversight of the Four State Christian School. The Information Technology Disaster Resource Center, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity comprised of IT Professionals; organized in 2009 to provide technology continuity and recovery assistance to communities and small businesses affected by disaster. Services are provided at no cost by a volunteer team of service oriented professionals with resources and experience in most technology disciplines. A New Rent-to-Own Experience by Neil Ferguson Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers
Who Is Your Competition? by Bill Keese In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.
A Review of Online Customer Complaints by Ed Winn III While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
Rent-to-Own Families, Part VIII by Kristen Card Our series of family-run rent-to-own businesses continues with profiles of the Homeiers in Kansas and two Texas-based sets of kindred colleagues, the Spangles and the Weisblatts.
