Rent-to-own News - More compact, portable bed bug cooker released

August 11, 2011

Mike Frye's latest invention, Bug Out Thermal Extermination System, has provided for many rental dealers that elusive cost-effective solution to bed bug infested merchandise.

The first version banked on its ability to super heat a delivery truck and the core temperature of mattresses contained within to 135 degrees Fahrenheit for at least an hour -- the only proven method to kill both bugs and eggs.

The somewhat bulky contraption won over dealers with its effectiveness, not so much on its looks or bulky size and weight. See previous story.

Comments were noted and Frye modified and improved. The latest version of his bed bug terrorizer -- a suitcase-sized, 30 pound, electric powered, fan driven powerhouse on wheels -- is sure to win over even more advocates.

"We heard back from a lot of dealers who wanted a more portable solution," Frye said. "We listened to what they had to say and trimmed it down and added the fan to help circulated the heat. We think dealers will really like this new model. It's practical without compromising power."

The product retails for $2,999.

Examples of testimonials from dealers below:

"We have had success with the Bug Out Thermal Extermination System. We strongly recommend following Mike's advice on truck insulation as this is a key element to the system's effectiveness."

MAJIK Rent to Own.

"We have used the system on many occasions and it has done the job each time.  We had a bedroom set with bed bug eggs on the slats.  I quarantined them for 3 weeks after treatment and they never hatched so I'm real comfortable with the system. Thank you for answering the call for a solution to the Rent to Own industry regarding bed bugs"

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
