Rent-to-own News - Michigan Premier donates chair to injured customer

February 28, 2011

Beth Grishaber and Chad Kaufman. Employees of Premier Rental-Purchase, Nile, MI -- load up a lift chair for one of their customers.

Jim Forker, owner of Premier-Rental Purchase in Niles, Michigan, left no doubt about putting customers first this week, surprising Angela Keys with a lift chair delivered to her home.

Keys is recovering from an auto accident which killed her husband, a local firefighter, on Valentine’s Day. She was interested in renting the lift chair as she is healing from a broken pelvis. This type of recliner comes equipped with power controls, which not only allow the patient to lie down, but to move forward to help the person stand almost completely on their own.

Keys and her family are long time rental customers at Forker’s store and he wanted to do something nice for her during such a trying time.

“They were expecting the delivery to be included on a normal contract agreement. We decided to donate the chair to Ms. Keys instead” Forker said.

Keys graciously accepted the chair with overwhelming emotion and appreciation.

“This is just another example of how our dealers constantly give back to their local cities,” said Trooper Earle, President & CEO of The Premier Companies. “We are so proud of the hard work and charitable dollars Premier owners put forth in their communities."

The national office of The Premier Companies is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Premier Brands consist of Premier Rental-Purchase, Premier Home Furnishings, Premier Wheel Workz, Premier Auto by Rent. All Premier stores are independently owned and operated. Visit Premier’s website at www.premierrents.net or call 800/2-Premier and ask for Trooper Earle.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
