Long-time Buddy's Buyer Ina Mahoney dies

Ina Mahoney, 52, beloved industry friend and veteran products buyer for Tampa-based Buddy's Home Furnishings for over 25-years, died in her home Friday morning after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Buddy's President Joe Gazzo issued the following statement to RTO Today:

"I am deeply saddened to inform you that Ina Mahoney, an amazing woman known for her dedication to family, friends and co-workers, passed away this morning. We have all suffered a great loss. Ina had many admiring friends and I am proud to have been one of them.

Ina started her journey with Buddy’s Home Furnishings on October 30th, 1985 and as one of her co-workers stated earlier today, 'she worked long, hard, and faithfully for Buddy’s for more than 25 years.' In that time, Ina contributed an immeasurable amount of talent to our organization and was respected by all of those who worked with her.

I encourage each of you to join me in celebrating Ina’s life.  Please take the time, wherever you are, to honor Ina and the family she is leaving behind.  It seems impossible to speak of any consolation in the face of such a bitter loss. Her husband Tom, and son T.A., were the heart and soul of the “Ina” we all knew and loved so much. Please lift her family up with your faith and prayers for courage and strength as they go through this difficult time.

It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you today as I know that you all share my feelings of profound sorrow. Ina will be greatly missed from both a personal and professional standpoint. She was a wonderful person and is leaving a legacy of courage, humor, and love of family, as a wife and a mother.  I will share the details of Ina’s services as they become available."

Sincerely,

Joe Gazzo
President, Buddy’s Home Furnishings

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
