NEWSLETTERS - Heartland of America Trade Show extends hotel reservation deadline

Reservation deadline extended for Heartland of America Trade Show

Dealers and vendors planning to attend the fourth annual Heartland of America Regional Trade Show next month now have until May 22 to take advantage of special block room rates secured for the event.

The two-day show will commence June 16-18 at the Lodge of Four Seasons Resort in Lake Ozark, Missouri and attendees now have until next Thursday to lock in the special $100 per night room rate secured by organizers.

The regional aspect of the show makes it a "must" for dealers who can take advantage of deals and specials offered by the 70 vendors expected to attend.

"Regionally, it gives you the feel of a national show," says Ken Steiner, Missouri Rental Dealers Association (MRDA) Executive Director. MRDA is hosting the tradeshow. "This show gives rent-to-own professionals the opportunity to network with people in other states and see what they're doing and take advantage of our vendor specials."

Steiner says he anticipates between 150 and 175 dealers from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Arkansas will make their way to the show which also features a bass fishing and golf tournament.

For the last several years, dealers purchased over $650,000 worth of products at the show, Steiner says, a mark he hopes to exceed this year.

In addition to the buying show, tournaments, dinner and awards ceremony, the event will also feature guest speaker Mike Frank June 18. Frank, president of Speakers Unlimited, will speak on the topic, "Finding, hiring, training, motivating and keeping good people."

Participants are encouraged to make their own hotel reservations by contacting The Lodge of Four Seasons Resort at 888/265-5500 or 573/365-3000. Ask for the Heartland of America Regional Tradeshow and Seminar block for the $100 per night rate. Room block deadline is May 22.

For more information or to register for the Heartland of America Regional Tradeshow, contact Ken Steiner by phone at 573/489-0622 or by email.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
