Rent-to-own News - D&H Distributing wins TRIB soaring eagle and executive club award

March 2, 2011

John Alifano (r), D&H’s director of the Consumer Products Division, accepts the TRIB Group Soaring Eagle award from TRIB Group President Lyn Leach during the annual TRIB Show in Orlando this February.

North American computer and consumer electronics distributor D&H Distributing is proud to announce that the TRIB Group, one of the largest and oldest US buying groups for the rent-to-own marketplace, has bestowed D&H with two separate awards this year.

The distributor has won the TRIB Group’s Soaring Eagle Award, in addition to its Executive Club Award for 2011.  This year marks the third time in a row that D&H has received the Soaring Eagle honor, which is given to the vendor that shows the largest year-over-year sales increase with the group’s membership.

“We’re thrilled to have won both of these distinctions with the TRIB Group’s membership,” said John Alifano, director of D&H’s Consumer Products Division, who accepted the award.  “We’re proud to continue enhancing our relationships and our sales with customers in this market. It’s our goal to offer ongoing benefits and innovative products and promotions to rent-to-own dealers, to help them grow their own businesses by identifying new products and opportunities for differentiation they can take advantage of. We only succeed when they succeed.”

The Executive Club Award recognizes partners that do business with more than 50% of the TRIB Group’s members. The awards were presented to D&H during the TRIB Group’s 2011 “Experience the Magic” Summit event in Orlando, FL, held on Feb. 20.

“D&H has increased its commitment to our membership over the past several years by way of both mindshare, partnership and personnel, in order to better serve the rent-to-own channel,” said Dennis Shields, executive director of the TRIB Group.  “They’ve been a solid partner, offering differentiated value that has motivated our membership to grow its association with D&H on a regular basis.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
