Rent-to-own News - Briley presented flag by Congressman

August 27, 2008

Congressman Randy Neugebauer of Texas' 19th district, presented Abilene City Councilman and Aaron's franchisee Robert Briley with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol Monday.

Rep. Neugebauer, left, with Zach,  Robert and Lou Briley.

Neugebauer, a co-sponsor of rent-to-own bill H.R. 1767,  wanted to recognize Briley for his commitment to serve on the Abilene City Council. Neugebauer began his political career on the Lubbock City Council.

"I was honored he would recognize me," Briley said. "The honor is very much appreciated."

The presentation was made August 25 at Briley's new Aaron's store in Abilene, Texas. Congressman Negebauer previously visited Briley's store last November to learn more about the rent-to-own industry. See story.

Briley owns 11 Aaron's stores in west Texas and was elected to the Abilene City Council this May. See Story.
