Rent-to-own News - APRO's Rock-n-Reno Bowling Party scores high points for funBy Neil Ferguson
And indeed, the lanes were plentiful, allowing all partiers to give the sport their best shot. When the last pin went down, the highest score—a striking 192—went to Benny Cheek with Bestway Rent-to-Own in Dallas, Texas. And what bowling party wouldn’t be complete without issuing a trophy or two: one to Cheek and one to the lowest-scoring game, which went to Jeanette Beardsley of RTO Systems, who scored 50. During the party, participants were urged to try their luck against two pro-bowler wannabes from High Touch. The $50 entry fee to challenge the semi-pros, Donna DiTrani and Jason Mock, was donated to APRO’s PAC or Team APRO, depending on which side won. DiTrani and Mock showed their worth as only two rental dealers, “Tiger” John Cleek Jr. and Jeremy Johnson, were able to defeat them. A third bowler, Mike Tissot, came very close.
The challenge raised $1,500 for APRO’s legislative efforts and the association thanks those who participated for this worthy cause. High Touch’s Wayne Chambers ponied up the $100 donation for Cleek and Johnson. The house band for the evening was Route 66, featuring two female lead singers and a fantastic band playing a wide variety of 1950s and 1960s classics. The performance included impromptu guest vocals by Larry Sutton of Rent-n-Roll in Florida and Lyn Leach with Ace Rent-to-Own in Nebraska. APRO would like to thank the sponsors of the Rock-n-Reno 1950s Bowling Party: ColorTyme, D&H Distributing, Dell, DPI Teleconnect, Florida State Games, JD Byrider, LG Electronics and Moneris Solutions.
