Rent-to-own News - APRO Special Products/Services Focus: Protect-A-Bed

July 12, 2010

Protect-A-Bed, a premier provider of mattress and box spring encasements for the consumer and professional market, is showcasing its line of Bed bug and waterproof products to the Rent to Own industry during the APRO 2010 Conference.

Protect-A-Bed will attend APRO (Booth # 110) to showcase their mattress and box spring encasements to the industry and offer education about the severity of the bed bug plague. With the added benefit of their product being waterproof on all six sides, Protect-A-Bed will also provide advice on soilage control and increasing “turns” while protecting their bedding assets.

Protect-A-Bed offers Allerzip, the world’s first scientifically proven bed bug entry, escape and bite proof mattress encasements with the patented Bug Lock with Secure Seal and Allergen Flap. The Protect-A-Bed system has been tested in an entomology laboratory to assure customers that is it is of the highest quality and effectiveness and is a trusted brand for pest management professionals.

The recently patented Bug Lock and Secure Seal gives customers the peace of mind that comes with knowing the product is difficult to tamper with, reducing the chances of introducing bed bugs potentially sealed within the mattress into their warehouse upon return.

“We don’t just say our mattress encasements are bed bug proof, we’ve proven it,” Haney said.  “When you encase your mattress and box spring, you cut off the food source to the bed bugs in the mattress and box spring, which will eventually lead to their death. The encasements help prevent the spread of bed bugs to other areas of the property and furniture.”

Protect-A-Bed mattress and box spring encasements are available directly through the manufacturer in all popular bedding sizes. To learn more about Protect-A-Bed’s products for the R.T.O industry, contact Rita Haney at 919/656-0882 or Ritah@protectabed.com.

by Neil Ferguson

Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
