Rent-to-own News - APRO Special Products/Services Focus: Asset Protection Products

July 13, 2010

Asset Protection Products LLC (“APP”), the RTO industry’s only “One Stop Shop” for asset protection solutions, will make its long anticipated debut at the upcoming APRO Convention.

Launched by industry notables Terry Beville, Jamie Slatton, Michael Gerwe, Joe Gazzo and Salvatore Moccia, APP will be providing revolutionary solutions to the challenges faced by every RTO dealer, specifically theft and collections.

Developed in partnership with I-Contain, APP’s products make shut-down and tracking capability “just a few keystrokes away” for every RTO dealer in America. The ability to disable or track products in the field offers RTO dealers new tools to combat delinquency and theft.

“Bringing an affordable shut off and tracking device into the RTO marketplace after working on it for several years is a dream come true for me,” says 30 year veteran Beville, Vice President and CFO of Buddy’s Home Furnishings “APP’s products are innovative, exciting and cost effective. Our long range goal is to protect every rental unit in the field and to have our technology integrated into every TV sold in the USA!  I look forward to sitting down with dealers and showing them how our products will help their bottom line."

“APP will be creating a stir at the show," said Moccia, a 20 year industry veteran. "I’m a technology guy and an operator. I can confidently say we are offering the best technology to the RTO industry. We’ve got new products RTO dealers have only dreamed about and we’ve got products which are better than the products currently in the marketplace.”

APP has been beta testing its product line for the past several months, with results exceeding expectations on all levels.

“We’re thrilled with what we’re seeing," Gerwe said. "We all have a lot of friends in the RTO industry, and we’re excited to introduce them to new opportunities to improve their business.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
