Rent-to-own News - APRO Software Focus: VersiRent

July 9, 2010

Is your current RTO software holding you back and preventing you from taking full advantage of your business opportunities? Does your current RTO software make you run your business its way (the way its creators decided it should perform its tasks)?

VersiRent (www.VersiRent.com) is the most versatile RTO software in the world today, and it can be quickly and easily configured to run your business your way! Also, you can reconfigure VersiRent whenever you wish – perhaps to accommodate a change in the law, or maybe to reflect new ideas you've had to better run your business.

Created for use on off-the-shelf PCs running the familiar Windows® operating system, VersiRent runs on inexpensive, non-proprietary hardware (computers, printers, etc.) that you can purchase anywhere. Also, VersiRent's point-and-click interface is easy to learn and easy to use; even new employees can be trained in only a couple of hours.

VersiRent can handle both RTO and Retail items. Also, VersiRent allows you to take special orders and to pre-sell items that you don’t currently have in stock – you can even pre-sell items you've never sold before. Both customer and inventory records can be augmented with photographs and notes and comments. Inventory items can also be augmented with your own user defined attributes ("stainless steel finish," for example) that you can search on at a later time.

VersiRent is fully scalable, from a single store, to a small number of stores, to an enterprise-level environment involving hundreds of stores. This means that you can easily perform tasks like taking payments for other stores (and vice versa). Also, if you don’t have a particular item in your store, you can check the inventory of other stores, transfer items from their inventory to yours, and immediately rent those items with only a few clicks of the mouse.

Unlike some RTO software that hides your valuable information in its proprietary database, VersiRent is based on the industry-standard SQL database. This means that you can easily "mine data" from the database to perform tasks like spotting trends ("Rentals of item XYZ have been rising at 10% a week for the last six weeks," for example), better manage your inventory control, and target customers whose rental period is coming to a close with special offers to bring them back in to your stores.

Each store's data is maintained in a local database, thereby increasing speed and allowing that store to keep on doing business, even if the store's connection to the Internet is lost. All local transactions are also constantly streamed through the Internet to the corporate server, thereby backing up your local data and allowing corporate office staff to work with enterprise-wide data in near-real-time.

Comments from delighted RTO store owners include: "VersiRent may have been created by expert programmers, but it was designed by someone who knows the RTO industry inside and out!" and "You've taken us from the Stone Age to the Space Age overnight!"

A New Rent-to-Own Experience

by Neil Ferguson

Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
