APRO Scholarship winners make good, new applicants sought

The Association of Progressive Rental Organizations is now accepting applications for its third annual $2,000 scholarship award open to all APRO rent-to-own employees and their children.
 
Scholarship applications are due June 11.

APRO's 2009 Scholarship Winner Robin Walker:

Robin Walker, a sophomore at the University of Mississippi, recently completed the fall semester with a 3.3 grade point average.

Now in her the spring semester at Ole Miss, the journalism major continues her goal of earning a degree with a little assistance from APRO's Education Scholarship program. Walker is the daughter of APRO member Gary "Bo" Walker of RTO Rentals from Paris, TN.

"I just want to thank APRO and all the members for this exciting opportunity and hope you can help thousands of other students like me," Walker said.  "It's such an honor and thank you again."

APRO's 2008 Scholarship Winner Penny Wyatt:

Show-Me Rent-To-Own assistant manager Penny Wyatt graduated this weekend with honors from Mineral Area College where she earned an associate of arts degree with a focus on pre-business administration with a boost from APRO's $2,000 scholarship Award.

Wyatt begins work on her bachelor's of business management degree this fall. She plans to to earn her master's of business administration degree at the University of Missouri St. Louis.

The single mother was named Show Me Rent-To-Own's employee of the year this past December.

"I take pride knowing my hard work pays off when I see the growth of the store," Wyatt said. "The scholarship has really helped me afford some things for my classes, like books and other things I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. Thank you for the opportunity."
