APRO Legislative Conference gears up for springtime on the Hill

Attendees to APRO's 2011 Dave Egan Legislative Conference will enjoy springtime in Washington, D.C. as rental dealers, employees and industry vendors come to Capitol Hill May 3-5, 2011, to visit with and educate congressional members - many newly elected - about rent-to-own's contribution to the economy and their constituents.

Attendance to APRO's Legislative Conference is imperative to continue the record-breaking support for rent-to-own's future. The face-to-face meetings in Congressional offices with members and staff who directly handle rent-to-own legislation have been the key to generating support and movement of the industry supported federal legislation - The Consumer Rental Purchase Agreement Act.

Last session, H.R. 1744 enjoyed the most co-sponsors in rent-to-own's legislative history with 126 co-sponsors. S. 738 had 19 co-sponsors. The majority of these co-sponsors were a direct result of personal time and relationships built by industry members while on Capitol Hill during APRO's  Legislative Conference.

Attendance to APRO's legislative conference is imperative to securing rent-to-own's future.

If you have not done so, please take a minute to register online at www.rtohq.org or email Jeannie Hutchison with the names of everyone who will be attending from your company.

A New Rent-to-Own Experience

by Neil Ferguson

Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
