Rent-to-own News - APRO Computers/Electronics Focus: D&H Distributing

July 9, 2010

D&H Distributing, the major one-stop resource for an array of merchandise including computer products, consumer electronics, home entertainment solutions, housewares, small appliances, and console video games invites Rent-to-Own dealers, store owners and managers to visit the D&H APRO Trade Show booth #518 at the APRO Show.

The event will take place July 19 to 22 in Louisville, KY.

The D&H booth will feature a variety of items over several categories, all of which have shown to be strong sellers in the RTO community.  This includes widescreen flat panel LCD, LED and plasma displays; notebook computers and desktop PCs for the home; GPS navigation units; small appliances; and popular audio and video components.

At the D&H exhibit, RTO dealers and store owners will have the opportunity to meet some of the company’s dedicated RTO team, including John Alifano, director of D&H’s Consumer Products Division, and Mike Dour, the company’s lead sales representative for the RTO market.  As committed professionals in the consumer electronics and rental markets, the team at the D&H booth can provide details on the distributor’s one-stop value proposition, which it has been developing over the years specifically for the RTO industry.

D&H is one of the few RTO suppliers with such an extensive selection of products categories, encompassing both mobile and desk-bound computers, small appliances, housewares, electronics, gaming products, navigation devices, projectors, and more.  Rent-to-own dealers can purchase anything from widescreen LCD TVs to vacuum cleaners, notebook computers to gas grills, or gaming systems to a wine fridge.  This comprehensive linecard makes it easy for RTO dealers to stock their shelves with a variety of merchandise through a single order.

“We try to provide not just a great selection, but also the market insights and purchasing power to help dealers and store owners improve their businesses by investing in the right combinations of products,” said John Alifano, director of consumer products at D&H Distributing.  “We’re the whole package:  consultative service in addition to a wide-ranging assortment of inventory.”

The Benefits of Sourcing Through D&H Distributing Include:
Multi-divisional inventory:  D&H offers a wide range of consumer products, including large screen plasma and LCD TVs and home theater systems, gaming systems, computer products including media PCs, plus small appliances and housewares from more than 450 vendor partners. Customers are encouraged to visit dandh.com to browse their vast product selection using enhanced search features and ordering tools.

Dedicated customer representatives:  The distributor assigns each customer a dedicated account representative to service that dealer’s business on a long-term basis.  D&H is renowned for its personalized service, so calls are never routed to a "pool" of salespeople.

Efficient shipping:  D&H provides as little as one to two-day shipping to most of the US through it four fully-stocked warehouse locations, plus drop-ship and custom shipping capabilities.
Favorable credit terms:  The distributor offers versatile financing programs, including flexible flooring options and inventory financing.

New account rewards:  New customers who place an order of $1,000 or more are eligible to receive a $100 American Express gift card (applicants must meet terms of eligibility).  RTO dealers and store owners can visit www.dandh.com for free account set-up.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
