Rent-to-own News - APRO Board votes to co-locate

May 29, 2008

The APRO Board of Directors ended months of negotiation and discussion Friday by voting to co-locate the APRO Convention and Buying Show with the 2009 AVB/Brandsource convention in Las Vegas in 2009.

Board members noted their decision to co-locate the show on a one-time trial basis was driven in part by economic concerns, too many competing shows and time constraints for vendors and rental dealers alike. Members said the move was made to benefit the rent-to-own industry as a whole.

The APRO board is considering other changes to help maintain the unity of all rental dealers and vendors and will be discussing more options in the future. Board members say they will continue talking to other interested parties, including Nationwide Marketing Group, regarding future shows.

“What this decision means is that we will have our show at the same time same place as the AVB show,” says APRO executive director Bill Keese. “This is not a merger between the two entities. APRO will always maintain its independent identity. It's going to be the same APRO show you are used to, but with more benefits."

The AVB/Brandsource show is scheduled for August 30-September 3, 2009 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.
