Rent-to-own News - 2007 Vendor Advisory Committee election results announced

September 26, 2007

By Neil Ferguson At the APRO Exhibitor Breakfast and Business meeting held September 26 during APRO’s 2007 Rent-to-Own Convention and Buying Show, exhibitors elected members to six positions on the Vendor Advisory Committee for the 2007-09 term. Bob Saunders of United Furniture and Gary Jones of Ashley Furniture were newly elected to the committee. Those re-elected to serve another term were Al Benson, Central File; John Blair, CM Jewelry; Ellison Crider, RSSS; and Mike Gerwe Jr., RES Accessories. Committee members serve staggered two-year terms and half of the positions become available each year at the convention. All APRO associate members are eligible to vote for candidates.

The Vendor Advisory Committee serves a critical function in addressing APRO suppliers’ needs and issues. The committee sets the direction and helps with many of the specifics of the APRO Convention and Buying Show, while providing an important link between vendors and dealers. It meets three times a year and all committee members participate of their own free will and assume responsibility for their expenses for travel and accommodations. At 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, the Vendor Advisory Committee will meet at the Reno Events Center to chart the course for the upcoming year and elect a slate of officers. The member elected as vice chairman of the committee will also serve on the APRO Board of Directors as the vendor liaison.
