Rent-to-own News - 200 Kansas atheletes to compete in High Touch Special Olympics softball tourney

July 2, 2008

More than 200 athletes from around Kansas will compete Saturday, July 12 in the third annual Kansas Special Olympics South Central Invitational Softball Tournament.

High Touch, a 24-year old Wichita, Kansas technology solutions company will mark its third year as organizer and host of the event slated for West Side Athletic Field.

Employees of High Touch selected Kansas Special Olympics as a corporate cause three years ago, and have been hosting the softball tournament ever since.

“When you see those young people out there high-fiving and having fun, you know you’re doing something that makes a difference,” says Church.

High Touch employees will plan and run the event, seek in-kind and dollar donations, and work every aspect of the tournament including the concession stand.

“I had so many coaches and athletes thanking me after last year’s event,” says Mitch Guthrie, coordinator for the Kansas Special Olympics. “I told them to thank the High Touch employees because they’re the ones who made everything happen.”

This year, Guthrie notes, two teams are driving from Kansas City to participate.
