Rent-to-own News - Wilmington welcomes new ColorTyme

September 23, 2011

After more than seven years of success as a ColorTyme franchising partner, Cort Hill recently launched his own store in Wilmington with hopes of opening more in the area. The new ColorTyme offers a better sales-and-lease option featuring name-brand appliances, furniture, electronics as well as onsite assistance from the owner himself.

“Wilmington is a great place for ColorTyme, and I hope to expand with multiple locations to serve even more people in the area,” he said. “I think everyone here is excited to experience the ColorTyme difference in our products, prices and service. For example, having an owner onsite and involved in daily operations is rare in this industry, but ColorTyme customers can count on me to be in the store every day ensuring that we exceed their expectations.”

Hill says the Wilmington store also honors special requests for products and provides better payment plans than other sales-and-lease businesses.

“We value our customers and make it a priority to accommodate their needs. That’s why we give them great deals on products with the ability to special order out of catalogs from popular suppliers like Ashley Furniture,” he said. “We also offer more payment plans than most stores including 12, 18, 21 and 24-month terms. We know that everyone has different financial goals, so we make plans flexible to meet every budget.”

The new ColorTyme is located at 3623 Kirkwood Hwy. The store plans to celebrate its grand opening on Oct. 1 with free food, drinks and giveaways. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the event and enter into drawings for the chance to win new electronics and the grand prize, a 42-inch flat-screen TV.

“We hope everyone will join us at the grand opening to see the ColorTyme difference for themselves and win some prizes,” said Hill. “We look forward to building life-long relationships and serving Wilmington for years to come.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
