Rent-to-own News - Nationwide expects strong turnout at PrimeTime!

August 16, 2011

Nationwide Marketing Group (NMG), parent company to RentDirect Nationwide, announced that they are expecting nearly 900 vendor and member companies at their upcoming PrimeTime! buying show and strategic member conference to be held next week at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas, Texas on August 21-24.

“This will mark our largest summer showing,” said Robert Weisner, CEO. “The strong attendance numbers we have seen over this past year can be attributed to the real benefits and value our vendor partners and member dealers are getting at PrimeTime!.”

In Texas, NMG, America’s premier buying and marketing organization for independent appliance, electronics and furniture dealers, will also be celebrating a milestone of 40 years in service.

To help celebrate, members will receive a booklet at registration filled with 40 Great Ideas to help draw more foot traffic, make the cash registers ring, and increase gross margins. Dealers who visit participating vendor booths to learn more about these ideas will get a chance to win a $10,000 U.S. savings bond and other prizes including an Ipad2 and Ipad Touch.

“Our goal for the upcoming show is to have every one of our members walk away with more than they came in with,” said Dave Bilas, Executive Vice President. “Whether that’s more money in their pockets from purchases made at the show, building new profitable relationships or learning about innovative marketing and sales strategies that they can implement immediately into their stores when they get back home.”

According to Bilas, nearly all of the 30 PrimeTime! University courses being offered at the show have already reached full capacity. These business courses are tailored specifically to the independent dealer and are held before the show floor opens. Some of the course topics include web development, sales training, financial management and self improvement.

“As instability in the economy ensues and pressures from the big box chains increase, dealers are looking for us to equip them with the tools needed to strengthen their position in the markets they serve,” said Les Kirk, COO. “Supporting the independent dealer of America is what we do best, it’s why we have been in business for 40 years and it’s why PrimeTime! in Texas will be another successful event.”

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
