Rent-to-own News - Kansas Rental Dealers focus on social media

March 21, 2011

Organizers are anticipating a high turnout for the Kansas Rental Dealers Association Annual Meeting March 30 at the Prairie Band Hotel and Casino in Mayetta, Kansas which will focus on social media marketing.

"We wanted to do something with marketing and felt like most of us had a handle on traditional marketing," said acting KRDA President Shaun Rush, "social media is something we're not as in touch with. When you think about it, computers are our number one rental products and the key to me is making sure we could communicate with our customers through what is obviously something they use on a daily basis."

Events kick off Wednesday March 30 at 7 p.m. with a cocktail reception where around eight different vendors are expected.

The next day begins with a breakfast followed by presentations including speaker William Gladhard who will deliver a talk entitled, "Social Media Marketing and SEO, Insight for the Socially Challenged. www.willgladhart.com

Later in the day, Curt Clinkinbeard, former director of the Kansas University Small Business Development Center, will lead a talk called, "10 Master Keys to Profitability: Cultivate the Inherent Profit Potential in your Business".

In his six year as SBDC career, Curt has advised over 1,000 small business owners - nearly all on growth topics. Today Curt works with a variety of clients in many industries in his own consulting firm.

Clinkinbeard conducts workshops throughout country on the Customer Pillars program, including as a nationally recognized trainer of over 1000 business consultants within the SBA's SBDC network. Curt is also the Executive Director for The FAMEE Foundation (Foundation for the Advancement of Marketing Excellence in Entrepreneurs).

KRDA will also hold board and officer elections.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
