Rent-to-own News - Montgomery ColorTyme celebrates second Grand Opening

March 17, 2011

The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce join owners Derrick Vinson and Eddie Edwards and ColorTyme corporate staff to commemorate the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

After a warm welcome from the community they serve, ColorTyme held a special Grand Re-Opening event Wednesday celebrating its success as the area’s preferred choice in rent-to-own.

The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce joined Derrick Vinson and Eddie Edwards, the owners, and staff along with ColorTyme executives, Bob Bloom and Albert Kohut, to commemorate the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“The Montgomery store has had remarkable success since its opening in November of last year, and we are eager to see even more progress after its Grand Re-Opening,” said Bloom, ColorTyme president and CEO. “Derrick and his staff show important values in the store everyday. Their reliability, hard work and passion for helping people truly create a winning business.”

The ColorTyme store offers competitive prices on a wide selection of home furnishings including furniture, appliances, computers and electronics. In addition, customers will find convenient payment terms as they obtain merchandise without the hassles of meeting credit requirements. Vinson and his staff are committed to maintaining ColorTyme’s focus on customer service and fulfilling customer needs.

“The Grand Re-Opening event and ribbon cutting show that we are dedicated to our service in the community, and now residents can expect even more from our store,” said Vinson. “We are proud of what we do here at ColorTyme and proud of the people we serve. We treat our customers like family; it makes us feel good to put their needs first and make sure they get the best deals around.”

ColorTyme is located at 3747 Eastern Blvd. and is open for business Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

ColorTyme, Inc., founded in 1979, is America’s oldest franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores. ColorTyme franchisees operate 191 rent-to-own stores in 33 states, and the company’s custom-wheels-and-tires franchise brand, RimTyme, operates 20 stores in 12 states. ColorTyme is headquartered in Plano, Texas, and is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of the largest RTO company in the world, Rent-A-Center (NASDAQ: RCII).

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
