Rent-to-own News - ColorTyme named "best of the best" in new AllBusiness AllStar ranking

March 4, 2011

ColorTyme, the nation’s oldest rent-to-own franchisor, was chosen again this year as a “best of the best” business opportunity in the 2011 AllBusiness AllStar ranking.

This is the second consecutive year that ColorTyme has ranked since the AllStar Franchises listing debuted in 2009. Bob Bloom, CEO and president of ColorTyme, is pleased to see the brand among other top franchises.

“Being named in such a prominent list confirms ColorTyme’s reputation as a trusted franchise and highlights the value for individuals who are looking for a rewarding opportunity,” he said. “With a focus on financing and comprehensive support, we are committed to helping our franchisees grow their business."

Backed by analysis from parent company Dun & Bradstreet, AllBusiness assesses the strengths of more than 800 franchising companies and ranks the top 300 based upon criteria including unit growth rate, availability of financing and brand visibility.

In business since 1979 and franchising since 1981, ColorTyme was chosen for many positive characteristics including longevity, system size, flexible merchandise buying programs, and an annual rise in financial strength. In addition, AllBusiness praised ColorTyme for offering financing for more than 15 years and continuing its funding for start-up and ongoing inventory needs through a new program with a major third-party lender.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
