Rent-to-own News - National TV Sales honors employees at annual awards banquet

December 15, 2010

National TV Sales and Rental's 2010 Manager of the Year Tom Welshimer (center) with company owners Kathy and Mark Windsor.

More than 80 employees of Missouri - based National TV Sales and Rental turned out for the company's annual Holiday Awards Banquet last weekend at Andy's 417 in Lebanon where top employees were honored.

Employees also continued their community outreach tradition by outfitting a guest room at the local Pregnancy Resource Center. In honor of company owners Mark and Kathy Windsor, employees named the room the "Windsor's Grandparent Room".

"This was a total surprise," Kathy Windsor said. "We do support that center in it's programs to help girls make the choice to keep their babies and help educate them and provide them with the resources they need. It's a worthwhile cause and we are honored and humbled by our wonderful employees and their gift."

Last year, National TV employees dedicated a newly outfitted sitting room at the nursing home where Kathy's father spent the last year of his life.

Taking home the top honor was National TV Sales and Rental 2010 Employee of the Year Michelle Jackson, who is the company's corporate auditor. The Employee of the Year/President's Award recipient is selected annually by National TV Sales and Rental President Mark Windsor.

Tom Welshimer, who manages the company's Mountain Grove store, was named 2010 Manager of the Year and Cordillia Stewart (APRO's 2010 Scholarship Winner) was name the company's 2010 Rising Star.

National TV Sale's 2010 Store of the Year Honor went to the Camdenton, Missouri store.

Sales and corporate associates from across the company's 17 stores in Missouri attended the after dinner events including the rock-n-roll stylings of EternitysEnd, featuring Camdenton Store Manager James Cole on drums.

"We've done this for over 20 years and its just a really great opportunity to celebrate our employees and show our appreciation for all they do," Windsor said. "We are one big family."

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
