Rent-to-own News - easyhome opens National Conference, presents $250K to Boys and Girls Club

September 10, 2010

Debbie Dagley, easyhome's 2010 Customer of the Year with easyhome  President & CEO David Ingram.

easyhome store managers and Corporate staff gathered at Canada’s leading Casino Resort that sits on the ledge of Niagara Falls Canada, this year for their 2010 Annual Conference.

Over  400 employees including managers, Regional Managers, Corporate support staff from easyhome’s core leasing business, easyhome Franchising, and easyfinancial Services, kicked off 2 days of intense training, group strategy sessions and entertainment, aimed at equipping the entire easyhome organization with Q4  and 2011 growth plans and strategic direction.

As a long time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada, easyhome presented the BGC with a check for $250,000, for the continued commitment to a 5 year endowment fund and announced the recent awarding of 10 easyhome sponsored university scholarships to kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs across Canada.

Two guest speakers, Monsieur Scott and Dr. Nigel,  lead a “Customer-ology”  theme,  focused on the art and science of building relationships with easyhome’s customers.

Dave Maries, Senior Vice President Marketing, Merchandising, & easyfinancial services, shared his vision around the discipline of building and retaining customer relationships and outlining the associated revenue opportunities.

His remarks included the announcement of completing the closing of the easyhome Edmonton, Alberta offices earlier in the year and the opening of the new fully integrated Toronto Support Centre in May including the new finance team created under easyhome’s CFO Steve Goertz.  Mr. Maries also revealed the details of easyhome’s Christmas promotion and hosted a spirited version of “The Price is Right” where the audience was asked to guess the incredible rate on some of easyhome’s hot new Christmas Feature products.

David Ingram, president & CEO, then took the stage to share his insights on the current environment, obstacles, and strategic vision for the next 3 years. Mr. Ingram also inaugurated the first member of the newly created “Diamond Club” store category where perks include a luxury vehicle complete with fuel card, automatic inclusion to the company’s annual incentive trip, industry-leading compensation and additional vacation time, among others.

Aligned with this year’s theme, easyhome also recognized its annual “Customer of the Year” award to Debbie Dagley, of Smith Falls, ON.  Debbie was appreciated by the audience and by David Ingram with a number of gratitude gifts.

The second half of the day was led  by guest speaker Jack Black, founder of Mindstore, a company specializing in proven peak performance training courses.  Managers were given tools to assist them in maximizing their performance in order to utilize easyhome’s no limit, all inclusive bonus program.

This was followed by the highlight of the evening, lead by an Iron Chef team building event and wrapped up with cocktails, dinner, drinks and first class entertainment, including customized lighting off the Niagara Falls reflecting the easyhome logo colors of green, pumpkin and blue.

If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III
