Rent-to-own News - Petra Industries annual golf charity raises $60,000

October 1, 2008

National CE distributor Petra Industries drew 117 participants to its 10th annual Charity Golf Tournament last week, generating over $60,000 for Mercy Ministries of America and Whiz Kids.

This year’s festivities began on September 24 with a cocktail reception and a “Show your helping hand” Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at the Fox and Hound Pub & Grille.

The next day 117 participants started with a shotgun-start golf scramble at the prestigious Oak Tree Golf Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma. An awards luncheon concluded the day’s events and included awards for the longest drive, longest putt and bonus ball.

Petra Industry representatives present a check for $30,000 to Mercy Ministries of America reps.

Checks for $30,000 each were presented to Selah Hirsch, Director of Development for Mercy Ministries of America, and Masie Bross, Program Director for Whiz Kids.

“Petra has a strong commitment to giving back to our community," says Bill Stewart, president of Petra Industries. "We believe it is our responsibility to contribute when we can to help others, and we are so proud to work with so many companies that also have the same strong service convictions. This year we increased the donations to the two charities by 20 percent over last year’s contribution"
