Iowa's Latham becomes 82nd co-sponsor

Iowa Rep. Tom Latham

Iowa Republican Tom Latham Friday, officially became the 82nd co-sponsor to join H.R. 1767 -- the House version of the industry supported Consumer Rental Purchase Agreement Act.

Latham, who represents Iowa's 4th Congressional District, is a seven-term Congressman who was first elected in 1995.

Rep. Latham is Iowa’s only member of the House Appropriations Committee, considered to be one of the most influential in Congress. He serves on the Speaker’s Task Force for a Drug-Free America, the House Prescription Drug Action Leadership Team, and most recently the Congressional Task Force for Affordable Natural Gas.

Latham is the 18th U.S. Congressman to sign-on to H.R. 1767 since the conclusion of the 2008 APRO Dave Egan Legislative Conference in Washington D.C. last month where over 120 rent-to-own industry activists educated legislators about the benefits of the bill to both consumers and the industry.

The companion bill in the Senate S. 1012, currently remains at 21 co-sponsors.

by Ed Winn III
Justice is supposed to be blind, unbiased, impartial—-but we know better.
